Feeling like you were just fired by Amazon? I must admit, being dropped by Amazon knocked the wind out of me!

If are new to internet marketing  and a resident of CaliforniaCalifornia goes after internet sales taxes, you may have been hearing some confusing news about the new Nexus Tax Law and how it will effect your business.  First of all, Don’t worry!!! The future for internet marketing is still bright and the nexus taxes are something we will learn to deal with as we shop for products, and affiliate associations.  Best of all,  everything I have shared from the Deadbeat Super affiliate review still works for other product affiliations besides Amazon.

The Nexus Sales Tax Issue

Basically, California believes that California residents should pay sales taxes on all internet purchases for products originating in California, or from companies with a presence in California.  The wrinkle here is that although Amazon has no physical presence, they do have affiliates here and California is classifying this as a physical presence.  Amazon objects and feels California is violating federal law.   As an immediate solution, Amazon merely dropped all the California  affiliates.  Ta Da…. Personally, I’m not sure I agree with the law or the Amazon response.. but for me… I just need to pick up and move forward.

So What are Backlinks? Simply said, they are links located on other websites that link back to your website.  They can be attached to other peoples blogs, forums, in articles you write, in comments you place in other peoples blogs and articles.  They can be placed on Socal bookmarking websites, and in official press releases.  Here is a YouTube video by edmundpelgen that reinforces what Dan Brock teaches in his Deadbeat Super Affiliate Course:

Not all backlinks are created EqualEvery Backlink we create adds to our creditability, but not all backlinks have the same weight. So the first set of lines to color between is to find blogs, social bookmarking sites and forums, that have good PR values, (4 and above).  We talked about this in an earlier article about improving Google Ranking

 

So how do we locate good PR blogs and forums?

Searching for high ranking blogsWell……we begin with the basic search tools… GOOGLE…  Did you know that Google has many search engines dedicated to specific web types, like Blogs, discussion-Forums, Articles?   To find the specific search engine, look for Google Blog Search, or type Google article search. At that point, type in a topic related to your website and begin searching. In just a few minutes you will find dozens of websites ideally suited for your comments. Remember, another key to getting solid backlinks is to be linked to other sites related to your targeted keyword(s).

DeadBeat Super Affiliate Review: How To Improve Your Google Page Rank

Or so I thought… As it turns out,  no matter how catchy the title, or how good the content, unless it reaches the top 3 positions in the Google search, not many will ever see it.  Well, fortunately for us, The Deadbeat Super Affiliate reviews with us just how to get there.

Once you have published your content, the next step according to Dan Brock’s Deadbeat super affiliate review is to get it indexed by Google.  Simply put, indexing is where Google finds your site and adds it to the Google database.

In Module 10 we are introducedsnapshot of the socialposter website to http://socialposter.com/. Here you can bookmark your website on the top bookmarking directories. Since Google searches these websites frequently, your your URL, a title, and a brief description should be indexed within 12-24 hours.

Not sure where to begin?How the Google algorithm  determines page ranking is still a mystery to most of us, but topical relevance, keyword placement, and the number of backlinks from authority websites, still appears to be strong factors to getting high ranking in Google.

A Backlink is a link that is located on another website that points back to your webpage or website.  The higher the ranking of the website which has this backlink the more important the backlink..  Two backlinks of websites of PR 4-8 may hold the same importance as 200 backlinks on websites with PR of 2 or less..

The rate of building backlinks is also important, Getting to the Top of Googleand Dan recommends that you don’t build more then 10-15 backlinks a day.  Better yet, just pick a number that you can build weekly and sustain that rate for a couple months. The process might be a little slow going, but once you reach the top, it will be easier to maintain the lead position.

In Module 6, Dan begins to teach us how to now write a blog article, saying that the title is  “The most important aspect of any product review.” an opinion shared by many internet marketers like Lorelle VanFossen who writes: “Writing a blog post or article can be hard work. Writing an effective title or headline can be even more of a challenge”

But it never seems to work that way..   It appears that the more popular a product, the more DEADLY the competition becomes.. Or at least that is what I thought, before studying Dan’s Deadbeat super affiliate .

Reverse Engineering? Being new to internet marketing, I was a little confused when I would hear this term tossed around by the gurus..  In days past, websites were built around a theme <niche>, then the appropriate products were found to sell.  However, in this age of sniper websites, the idea is to find a product first, then build the website around it.. thus reverse engineer it.

As I have previously shared, Dan uses Amazon and four criteria to pick a product. He then begins to evaluate traffic and strength of competition using two free website tools. The first is the Google Adsense keyword tool.. To get an idea of this tool look at the video below, from YouTube by TerrapinMarketing.

With this tool, Daniel looks for niche keywords that have a minimum of 3,000 global searches/mo. He then looks at the competition bar and eyeballs those with 75% or less competition, saving each word until he has compiled a list of 5-10 keywords.

When compiled, he then actually performs a Google search and notes the top three websites returned, for each keyword.  The second tool is an online utility called “backlink checker” which tells the type and number of backlinks each website has. If the competition has less then 21-25 backlinks, then Dan feels that the competition is beatable.

Today, there are a couple tools, one being SeoQuake, which is a browser add-on, that speeds up the backlink study immensely.  However, Dan’s overall process still remains sound.

In a previous review, we discussed 6 reasons why Amazon was a good place to begin your affiliate experience. So Dan next, walks us around Amazon, explaining his product selection logic, and in 30 minutes, finds a nice product, but warns us that often that same process might take him hours or days before finding a winner.

A Good Product Might be in  a hobby related niche (category)!

People who are into a hobby, tend to buy tons of related products, even if they don’t need it. So they see your product ad and take a look, and while there they buy something else. Remember that’s ok.. it still earns you a commission even though it was not the product you featured.

A Good Product Generally Solves a Real Problem!

So Why Amazon Affiliate Program?

The best niche products are more easily found in those niches in which you have a personal interest. Sports, Music, Reading, Self Help, Health Care Products, Electronic gadgets……  As explained in the Deadbeat Super Affiliate, Amazon has over 30,000 niches (categories)… So where better to find the perfect niche.

Reason 2: Higher conversion rates because  Amazon is Trusted. True, people are familiar with Amazon and it is probably the first place people go when looking for a product online.  There they can find prices significantly lower than the local stores,  and with next day delivery, they can quickly satisfy any impulse buying quickly.

Next, Dan explains that Amazon is a great place for impulse buying. When I read that in the Deadbeat Super Affiliate material, it quickly reminded me of how many times I would go to Amazon to buy one thing and end up buying 10 things.

So once a buyer arrives on Amazon with your affiliate number, everything they buy that day and the next 60 days (typical life of a cookie), will be credited to you, including that gallon of Deer Urine they remembered they needed for their garden (LOL)..

Dan tells us that when he is looking for content (the text for his review ),  Amazon has everything he needs to compose a solid 300-500 word article from right there on the product sales page. There Dan finds everything, the product features, and the Pros and Cons as told by actual buyers.

The Deadbeat Super Affiliate shows us how to check for product competition, and with tens of thousands of products on Amazon it is easier to find a product that is in a niche we like and a product that has reasonable search volumes and low competition.

And finally, although Amazon is stingy with the commissions, you can find products there that can net you an easy $10-$50 per sale.  Also, the commission percentage scales up from 4%-8%, based on the number of transactions per month.  So if you have some low cost items and some high cost items.. the Volume sales could make the high dollar item’s commission even bigger.

Deadbeat Super Affiliate- Why it Just Won’t Work!

OK…  The reason why it JUST WON’T work is because your not paying enough money for it…   hear me out!  I have bought a ton of training materials and software programs in this same price range.  After I spend an hour downloading all the materials, videos and bonuses, something comes up and I get distracted with more pressing things.  A day goes by, then a week, and next thing I know I am downloading another video about something else…   Am I the only one?

Wife mad at husband photoI think the reason is because I don’t have enough invested. I  haven’t created an “OMG!!! The wife is going to kill me!!!!”, kind of urgency..  So this leads us to the last consideration you need to make before buying this product.

Is this just another impulse buy ? Or, can YOU make a commitment to actually view all 30 super affiliate training modules, build at least three websites then monitor the website’s traffic for 3 months? If you won’t do this… then like I said, the Deadbeat Super Affiliate program JUST WON’T WORK!!!!! (for you!)

How to Find a Product Niche: Dan’s Four Product Criteria

In Dan Brock’s Deadbeat Super Affiliate, Dan shows us the four criteria he uses to pick a niche product and then how to evaluate if that niche is too competitive.

Ok, Let’s continue from my last post..

The third consideration, you need to make before buying is:

Do you have the ability to envision, – to identify a concept and apply that idea  to other opportunities?

Now as I mentioned in my previous post, Dan is very detailed on the process he uses, and he will show you an example from start to finish on how to identify a product niche, tools he uses, and the various indicators he has used to evaluate the competition’s strength. Although, Dan walks us through discovering a niche product on the Amazon website, Dan lists 40 other website affiliate stores (like Amazon) that this technique will also work well with.

However, I warn you!!!! If you copy Dan’s every word…  You will Fail!!!!

Don’t be like one of Dan’s customers who demanded a refund  (which Dan gave immediately) because he followed Dan’s example, word for word  (Yeah, same exact niche and same exact products) and he was shocked because the wasn’t making money after two weeks.   Duhhhh!!

First of all, find your own niche.. and Secondly, give your new website some time to mature in the Google Search Engine, allowing the SEO and traffic generating techniques you will learn, a chance to take effect. There are a lot of variables to the exact time you will start ranking, but while you are waiting, build some more super affiliate websites, and before you know it you will start seeing your previous websites moving up the page.

Which brings us to consideration # 4:  Are you willing to take time to do the  product research?

The internet marketing technique that Dan teaches us does require an individual effort and some personal thought.  You may already have some niche categories that you personally enjoy.  Start there, then use Dan’s product criteria to dig a little deeper into your niche and find something special that you will love to discuss while making money.  The idea is that there are thousands and thousands of unexploited niche products, but to find the real money makers, will require some leg work.  But, don’t fret!!!!  As you gain experience, your eye for the really good ones will develop and the money will start rolling in.

Selecting a niche, finding a product, and evaluating the competition, are shown in just the first 5 modules of Dan’s 30 module Super Affiliate training program. So you can imagine the detail Dan has but into these modules covering the internet marketing techniques behind affiliate products and making money online. Like I said when you are done with these 30 modules you will know everything but if you actually do something with that knowledge will be up to you…  Remember in my first post, I told you that I was so busy learning that it took me six months before I put anything into action…  So don’t be like me.. find a product, like the Deadbeat Super Affiliate,  and follow it step by step building your product niche as you watch Dan, so that when you are done with the course, you’ll be done with your first Super Affiliate website.

Deadbeat Super Affiliate: First two things to consider

My goal here was to present a review of Daniel Brock’s “Deadbeat Super Affiliate” video training material.  I have used some of Dan’s training materials before, (non-related subject matter) and found his teaching both entertaining and informative.

Shortly before retirement, I began looking for ways to make money online, but quickly became overwhelmed with the many facets of Internet marketing. There was online marketing strategies, affiliate programs, SEO and traffic generation software. Oh yeah, what about the actual website design?  I’m an Engineer, give me numbers and statistics, but ART and Header designs uggg!!  I was definitely out of my comfort zone.  If any of you have an Engineer in the family, you can understand when I say.. I tend to “over-think” a project.  It took me over 6 months before I put up my first website, simply because I was trying to learn everything… I mean I even spent a month studying CMS development from Php, how anal is that?

So the first thing you need to consider is:

“Do you have the mentality to jump in and JUST DO IT??   yeah you know..  “Get er done!”

Principle #1: I definitely have had to learn the  “Ready-Shoot-Aim” principle, and once I began to apply this concept, my entire life got much simpler.

So.. ok,  procrastination isn’t Your problem, but how about consideration #2?

“Can you blindly follow directions without trying to make it better?”

Yea, the Engineer in me strikes again!  “What if I just change this, or tweak that, wouldn’t it be better than what Dan said to do” ?   Yeah…. ah…. NOPE!!!

Principle #2: Follow the templates used by successful marketers until you gain experience.  Once you start making money and have a better idea on what the best affiliate marketing program is for you, then (and only then) start tweaking. (ok..  stop laughing.. you know I’m not talking about that kind of tweaking).  The idea here is that your tweaks will make more sense and if you do blow it, you won’t give up entirely.

Dan’s Deadbeat Super Affiliate is one of these templates. I was able to follow Dan step by step.  He showed me everything I needed to do even the simple tasks.  Not like some, who say.. “OK blokes.. There is plenty of information about that on the internet so I’m going to skip over this and get to the…..”  uggg!!!  Then you stop, go look it up, hope you did it right, and by the time you start the video again, two hours have passed just because the guy couldn’t bother to take the five minutes to show you ..   But not with the Deadbeat Super Affiliate,  It is very detailed and complete from start to finish.  Yes, there will be parts you know already, but HEY, use the “fast forward button!!!”  No Big deal right?
